My dad’s tasting notes from the 70’s (which are more in his head than actually written down), states that this wine received great reviews when it came out. After the first bottle he opened, the sulfur taste was so overpowering that he couldn’t even stomach to drink it. He left the case in the cellar for 30 years just so he can hope for the best. I’m glad he did.We enjoyed this ½ bottle after a great family meal. Paired with some cheesecake, this sweat and mellow sauterne, and the sulfur taste were completely gone. The gold color of the wine was absolutely stunning, and the nose was to die for. I’m not sure if the chateau is still around (can’t find it online anywhere), but if you can snag one of these from a cellar somewhere you are in for a treat. I'm rating this a 10/10.
